The Needles Tasmania

The Needles Tasmania is a truly spectacular short walk about 1.5 hours out of Hobart. Within only an hour of uphill struggle, you are rewarded with a 360º which includes Mt Field, Mt Mueller, Mt Anne, the Saw Back Range and Lake Pedder among many other landmarks and features.

If you are in the Mt Field area, make sure to stop by this amazing walk. Or turn it into an off the beaten track day trip from Hobart.

Cradle Mountain Hikes Tasmania

Not all National Parks are created equal. Even though I love every park I’ve been to so far, Cradle Mountain really stands out to me. With great views, lots of wombats and a more-than-usual upbeat vibe from fellow hikers, it really is a must-see in Tasmania.
We’ve started putting together this guide to Cradle Mountain Hikes to help you prep for your own adventure out there. I’m convinced you’ll love it!

Hiking Mt Field Tasmania

Mt Field is one of the most visited National Parks in Tasmania. With it’s close proximity to Hobart, plenty of short walks and famous Russel Falls, this probably surprises no one. But what may come as more of a shock is that last large majority doesn’t even bother to drive up to the top, let alone do any of the hikes.

Which is lucky for us, since it means beautiful open views without the crowds.

Hike Hartz Mountain Tasmania

Just little over an hour west of Hobart is a half day walk that will take your breath away. Remote enough to not see any signs of civilization from the summit and still accessible enough to make it a day trip from the city. What’s not to love? If you’re staying in or near Hobart, make sure not to miss Hartz Mountain!
